Gen Art fest's in 'Dreamland' Variety March 13, 2006 Article by By Addie Morfoot Jason Matzner's feature film directorial debut, "Dreamland," will open the Gen Art Film Festival 11th annual installment on April 5. Pic, which will make its Gotham preem, centers around an 18-year-old girl living in the New Mexican desert who dreams of escaping to college. Cast includes John Corbett, Agnes Bruckner and Gina Gershon. Fest, which showcases emerging North American independent filmmakers, will include Gotham premieres of seven features and seven shorts. Feature films include Joshua Michael Stern's "Neverwas," starring Aaron Eckhart, Nick Nolte, William Hurt, Jessica Lange and Ian McKellen, and Bruce Leddy's "Shut up and Sing," starring Molly Shannon, Mark Feuerstein, David Harbour and Elizabeth Reaser. "Live Free or Die," helmed by Gregg Kavet and Andy Robin, will close the fest April 11. Pic, starring Aaron Stanford, Paul Schneider, Zooey Deschanel and Michael Rapaport, tells the story of a man who is looking to make a name for himself as a bad guy in New Hampshire. Gen Art will honor a festival breakout talent with the inaugural juried Stargazer award for excellence in acting. That honor joins the Acura Grand Jury Feature and Short Film kudos, for which the automaker, returning for its fourth year as presenting partner, grants $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. Following opening night at Clearview's Ziegfeld Theater, the six nights of premieres will screen at Clearview Chelsea West Theater.
