Ben
Kingsley, Tea Leoni and Luke Wilson will star in helmer John Dahl's "You Kill Me," a mob
comedy penned by writing duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Code Entertainment is financing and producing the indie pic with Kingsley's
shingle BiPolar Prods., Carol Baum Inc. and Mike
Marcus' Echo Lake Prods. Lensing is to begin
later this month in Winnipeg.
Film also stars Dennis Farina, Philip Baker Hall, Bill Pullman
and Marcus Thomas.
Story revolves around a hitman
from Buffalo sent to the West
Coast to dry out. He attends AA meetings, gets a sponsor and lands a job in
a mortuary, where he meets a woman who is a relative of one his hits.
Producers are Code's Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt
and Eugene Musso, along with Baum, Mike Marcus
and Zvi Howard Rosenman. Leoni
and Jonathan Dana are exec producing.
Dahl's earlier films include "Red Rock West" and
"The Last Seduction."
Markus and McFeely's credits
include Disney's "The Chronicles of Narnia:
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and HBO pic
"The Life and Death of Peter Sellers."
Recent Code titles include "Noel" and
"Drowning Mona." The indie production
and financing firm's upcoming slate includes "The Gravedancers,"
"Behind the
Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon" and David Mamet's "Edmond."
"You Kill Me" was brought to Code by ICM's
Independent Film Group, which will handle U.S. sales with
Endeavor Independent. Capitol Sales is repping
rights overseas, and is taking the pic to Cannes.
